Note: Some baseball terms have more than one meaning—where the specific definition will depend upon the term's usage context.   For example, the abbreviation 1B when used in conjunction with hitting stats refers to a single-base hit or "Single", while the same term when used in a fielding context refers to the fielding position "first base".

For more information on these terms—especially for some of the more esoteric metrics such as SLOB, Runs Created, Runs Created Per Game, and more—please see the web sites listed in the "Some helpful links for understanding baseball, its terminology, and scoring a baseball game" section of the Help page.
